Accessibility
statement

Last reviewed: March 10, 2026

This statement is provided in support of transparency requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), specifically the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR), and the Accessible Canada Act (ACA). While this site is an individual portfolio and falls below the employee threshold for mandatory AODA reporting, these standards are voluntarily adopted as a reflection of genuine commitment to inclusive design.

This portfolio is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. I continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards throughout the design and development process.

Conformance status: This site aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA, with many criteria meeting the enhanced Level AAA standard. Accessibility has been actively tested and verified across supported browsers and assistive technologies.

Measures taken

To support accessibility, the following measures have been applied to this site:

All content is written in plain language; clear, direct, and free of unnecessary jargon, in keeping with AODA and Accessible Canada Act plain language expectations.

All colour combinations meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text). The site does not rely on colour alone to convey information.

Body text (#121212 at 80% opacity on #fafafa) achieves a contrast ratio of approximately 8.6:1, exceeding AAA requirements. Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.

All interactive elements (buttons, links, nav items) have a minimum touch target of 44×44px.

All images include meaningful alt text; decorative images are marked as such.

No content flashes more than three times per second.

Keyboard navigation is fully supported; focus indicators are visible at all times. Breadcrumbs are provided at the top of each page.

Semantic HTML is used throughout, headings, landmarks, lists, and ARIA labels are properly structured.

While every effort has been made to ensure accessibility, some areas are still being refined:

  • Embedded third-party content (such as video players or external embeds) may not fully conform to WCAG 2.1; these are outside the scope of direct control
  • Full WCAG 2.1 AAA conformance is aspirational; a small number of AAA-specific criteria (such as sign language for all video content) are not yet met
